Nature Connection, Art, Beach Trips & More: Looking Back at Summer Camps 2023
From nature connection, to art, to beach trips and more, our nine weeks of summer camps at Anneliese were a blast. Here are some snapshots from the summer and all of the unplugged fun that was had by our campers at our Willowbrook Campus. Manzanita Students Study Birds in Gardening Class
At our Manzanita campus this week, students were able to observe bird behaviors through the lens of fine motor skills in a series of interactive stations. Gardening class with Ms. Sami involved studying various birds and how their different beaks serve a variety of purposes. The children were able to use many different tools to simulate the beaks of all types of birds and how they work.
Manzanita Students Paint, Practice Cursive & Print Writing, & More
Students at our Manzanita Campus in downtown Laguna Beach spent their second week of the new school year expressing themselves and getting to know one another. Ms. Lisa and Frau Conny’s blended 1st and 2nd grade class enjoyed projects that involved paint, and practicing both print and cursive writing to craft sentences about themselves. The class decorated mini canvases to display on the classroom’s mantel. Students painted colorful self-portraits that Ms. Lisa and Frau Conny displayed as classroom artwork. Olivia
Manzanita Students Enjoy Math and Language-Based Scavenger Hunt
At the Manzanita campus, students went on a math and language-based scavenger hunt that led them to baking a delicious treat. Ms. Lisa reports, “Recently, the children went on an exciting scavenger hunt using a map of the Manzanita campus and clue cards. The children found all the ingredients and correctly guessed they were for making chocolate chip cookies.” The students helped translate the recipe into French and German and also had to apply their math skills to double the
Manzanita Students Beautify Garden
Students at our Manzanita campus recently worked with Ms. Sami, our gardening teacher, to create new garden spaces for growing and eco-literacy. Ms. Sami shares, “This is the end result of our garden beautification project at Manzanita. The garden includes a spiral herb and tea garden that the children helped plant, a native plant garden to attract amazing pollinators, and our food growing lab complete with three planter boxes to be filled with delicious veggies and herbs.” Part of the
Manzanita 1st and 2nd Graders Set Goals Through Art
Recently, students at the Manzanita campus used art to reflect on their aspirations for the school year. Ms. Lisa shares, “The first grade students painted a tree and wrote their strengths on the roots and goals on the branches. The second grade students painted roses and added a ‘rose, bud, and thorn’ to their artwork to show their progression through their goals and strengths.” These beautiful paintings serve as a reminder to the students how far they have come, and
