Manzanita 1st and 2nd Graders Set Goals Through Art

Recently, students at the Manzanita campus used art to reflect on their aspirations for the school year. Ms. Lisa shares, “The first grade students painted a tree and wrote their strengths on the roots and goals on the branches. KS and 2nd Grade Students Enjoy Animal Care Fun at Willowbrook

  Our Willowbrook campus saw lots of animal care fun this week, from hens to mini horses. Ms. Janet, the school’s Animal Care Coordinator, enlisted Ms. Joanna’s 2nd grade class to give our hen, Galaxy, a spa day.   Ms. Janet says, “Sometimes dust baths just don’t do the trick!” Additionally, Ms. Nasrin’s KS students enjoyed their animal fun class this week as they visited the mini horses.

Aliso K1 Students Explore the Letter B Through Writing & Sensory Activity

Students in Ms. Rocio’s K1 class at our Aliso campus recently explored the letter B through writing and a sensory activity.   The children made a bubble solution and had fun with their creations that reflected their letter of the week. Once they completed their sensory activity, the students each practiced writing the word “bubbles” out on the board in the classroom. The word “bubbles” has plenty of lowercase b’s for perfecting the motion in their handwriting practice!

Manzanita Students Enjoy Math and Language-Based Scavenger Hunt

At the Manzanita campus, students went on a math and language-based scavenger hunt that led them to baking a delicious treat. Ms. Lisa reports, “Recently, the children went on an exciting scavenger hunt using a map of the Manzanita campus and clue cards. The children found all the ingredients and correctly guessed they were for making chocolate chip cookies.” The students helped translate the recipe into French and German and also had to apply their math skills to double the

Nursery Students Combine Nature Walk and Color Exploration

Students in KKS at Willowbrook combined a nature walk and color exploration this week with Ms. Megan and Gardening Teacher Ms. Sami.   The lesson started by reading a story about colors in the garden after looking at a color wheel and identifying all the colors the students saw on the wheel. Fourth Grade Classes Visit Big Bear on Overnight Field Trip

The fourth grade classes of Mr. Mike and Mr. Martyn traveled to Big Bear, California last week for the school’s annual fourth grade overnight field trip. This excursion to YMCA’s Camp Whittle is a great experience for the fourth graders to develop some independence and strengthen friendships. Their action-packed two-day trip involved team-building exercises, archery, hockey, animal experiences, camp fires, nature walks, rock-wall climbing, an exciting night hike, and much more, all surrounded by nature.

Aliso Students Deepen Friendships & Practice Name Writing

Manzanita Students Paint, Practice Cursive & Print Writing, & More

Students at our Manzanita Campus in downtown Laguna Beach spent their second week of the new school year expressing themselves and getting to know one another. Ms. Lisa and Frau Conny’s blended 1st and 2nd grade class enjoyed projects that involved paint, and practicing both print and cursive writing to craft sentences about themselves. K1 Students Enjoy Fine Motor Activities & Number & Letter Recognition

Students in Ms. Rocio’s K1 class at our Aliso Campus focused on fine motor activities and number and letter recognition last week. Activities involving small objects – like sorting and organizing – help children in this grade level to hone their fine motor skills. Students in our Willowbrook campus French Intensive World Language program gathered last week to share a French breakfast together – or petit-déjeuner – and use their French-speaking skills.
